caution–crazy times out there

i know times are tough for everyone. we are all trying to survive on making an honest living, key word honest living…

we live in a small town which sometimes can be a bit trying.i like to call it mayberry. everyone knows your business or what they think is your business. when bad things happen ie floods, fires or illness everyone comes together i love that.

monday i jumped on the computer to check emails for some reason crazy early. I opened up my email and read something I never would have expected would have affected me. i read a message from the editor of our monthly paper, yes you read that right monthly. the post read did you use this gas station. let me back up we all use that one or at least most of us if we are in a hurry and out of gas. i continue to read the station had been skimmed and some of our residents were victims. my heart sank did we use it?? of course, but when??

i jumped on the bank site and sure enough they had made three purchases using my hubby’s card. i froze in fear, we live modestly and was afraid they would wipe us out. after a few f**** s**** etc. i called the bank. ok here is where the craziness starts. it started out great they were wonderful then they researched it and it was hubby card and he is at work. humm need to talk to him, this went on for a bit and we worked together to cancel his card. good thing they tried to use it two other times. my hubby was so upset, mad, he said he is always aware and tries to check those machine. .. now we are waiting for the bank to send him a new card and give us back out funds.

this is what is making me crazzzzzzzzzzy. it is our money we need it. i did a police report, it was a well known fact. how dare someone steal our money, we work hard for it. chances of them getting caught slim. so now we wait for the bank to return what is ours..

be careful out there when swiping, just glad it was visa so they cannot get the bank codes. has this ever happened to you?

  1. Sorry this happened to you. Yes, unfortunately this has happened to us. It is very upsetting, because money doesn’t grow on trees. I hope that everything gets back to normal for you.

    • Thank you for visiting, yes it was a huge inconvience. It happens all the time so everyone must be vigialant. One suggestion from bank was to use the card inside. those machines are safer. thanks again for visiting..

I pray it does not happen but I do check my bank account on a daily out of habit or really out of fear of something like this happening. I hope everything works out.

    • Thanks everything is appearing to be fine. i do now check it sadly we have to be on top of those things when we can use the time for something else. thanks for visiting my little blog. it is growimg slowly, but i am loving it

  3. This is why, even though I know it is better to use a debit card for so many reasons, I am paranoid and almost always use a visa instead. With the debit card, they have access to your actual money. So sorry you’re having to jump through these hoops and deal with this nonsense. Hope it gets better! (Visiting from SITS)

    • thanks it is working out i hope they catch them. it was a huge inconvience really. the bank and sheriff was great. i will follow up get the report and stay on top of it. Thank you for visiting us. we are growing slowly, hope you come back and visit

This hasn’t happened to me, but I know it’s possible. The worst thing you can do with your personal info is be careless with it and of the attitude that “it won’t happen to me”.
